Matchmaking is the process through which the system groups players into opposing teams for public games modes. With the exception of bot games, matchmaking is mostly determined by matchmaking ratings MMR. Unranked or casual games do not display matchmaking ratings and still doesn't track your MMR for solo and party queues. This function matches you against another player in the Mid Lane. This match is over when one player dies twice, loses a tower, resigns or disconnects. Type gg in chat to resign. This function matches you or your team against AI-controlled bots.

LoL is not that big of a threat to Dota 2 and never has been. It's well known that Dota players are very much isolationist relative to other players of the same genre. They prefer Dota 2's approach than to the countless more casualised titles of the genre. Matchmaking ate: * As a result of the recent changes to legal party combinations, we sometimes have scenarios where three person parties have a lot of trouble finding compatible players. Matching against solos in particular had allowed for a much bigger spectrum of compatible matches, but we know that that is undesirable to some players.
So with this ate, we are allowing 2s and 3s to on occasion match with a 5 stack when the need is high. Recent Entries. Dota 2 ate - February 11th, Feb.

In this ate we are introducing a new system for gathering data on the type of changes that are harder to evaluate or predict without very large number of games, such as gold bounty formula changes.
We expect the number of times that we actually do this during the year to be very low, however when we do it it'll be during weekdays only at the lowest point of user activity, between 4 and 6PM Seattle time.
Any gameplay changes will only be active in matchmaking games where no players have the convar set.
The changes will never be active in lobby and league games. We recognize that in some cases players will back solve what changes were done, however we won't announce changes ourselves in part because we don't want players to overcompensate with knowledge of them and because generally we prefer to not reveal potential upcoming changes. Although the type of changes we are thinking about, like gold distribution, take much more than a game or two to show their full impact, we will still be able to get meaningful data and analysis on the direction and scale of changes.
